Laser Therapy
What is laser therapy?
High intensity laser therapy (HILT) is a non-invasive treatment that uses focused light energy to stimulate healing in musculoskeletal injuries. This therapy targets damaged tissues, promoting increased blood flow and reducing inflammation, which can recovery. In physical therapy, HILT is often utilized for conditions such as tendonitis, sprains, new acute injuries, and chronic pain, helping patients regain mobility and alleviate discomfort. By harnessing the power of laser technology, our therapists can provide effective pain relief and enhance the body's natural healing processes.
How does Laser Therapy work?
By delivering concentrated light energy to affected tissues, it stimulates cellular regeneration and enhances blood flow. This process not only accelerates healing but also helps reduce inflammation and alleviates discomfort. Overall, laser therapy serves as a valuable tool in enhancing recovery and improving patient outcomes for both acute and chronic injuries.
Is Laser Therapy painful & how long are treatments?
Treatments are generally 5-10 minutes depending on location and tissue being targeted. Because of the frequency and wavelength, most people report feeling a slight feeling of warmth at the beginning of treatment, but some experience no sensation of heat.
How many sessions do I need before feeling better?
Some report feeling pain-relief immediately after the first session, but depending how long you've had the symptoms it may take multiple treatments to start to feel a difference. For one location, you may benefit from treatments 2-3 a week for 6 weeks.
